General of the Institute Cavanis, Fr. Manoel Rosalino Pereira Rosa.

The general chapter, after many days of works and preparations and after yesterday's pilgrimage. Today we offered solemnly a Holy Spirit Mass intended for the guidance of electing a rightful General Superior of the Congregation presided by Fr. Giuseppe Leonardi. And now we are happy to announce our newly elected Preposito Generale

Fr. Manoel Rosalino Pereira Rosa.

Fr. Manoel Rosalino Pereira Rosa was born in Bocaiuva, in the northern state of Minas Gerais (Brazil) on April 17, 1976 (he's now 43 yrs. old). His parents are Geraldo and Maria Helena, and he's in the middle of the ten siblings. He is also a "bom mineiro" as he calls himself in a recent joking testimony, that is, a good inhabitant of Minas. At the age of 13, February 1990, he entered the Cavanis seminary in Castro. His vocation at that point was already ancient, but he defined himself towards the choice of being Cavanis when the priests Fr. Vandir Santo Freo and Fr. Giovanni De Biasio appeared in Bocaiuva in July 1989 to prepare the Presbyteral ordination of Fr. João Ferreira, who was originally from Bocaiuva, although he had known the Cavanis in Ortigueira. Castro had 70 young seminarians and the rector was Fr. Irani Luiz Tonet. There were also Fr. Antônio Elcio Aleixo and Bro. Wenceslau Kluczkowski and Fr. Livio Donati and Fr. Guerrino Molon; and Fr. Pietro Fietta in the Cenacolo Cavanis.

He continued his seminary Formation at Ponta Grossa with the year of novitiate (1994) and for philosophy (1995-97) following courses in IFITEME (Instituto de Filosofia e Teologia Mater Ecclesiae; 1992-94), then in Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais) with theological studies at ISTA ( Instituto S. Thomas de Aquino, 1998-2001). He gave his first vows with the temporary profession in Ponta Grossa in January 1995 and perpetual profession in January 2000 in Castro (Parana); He was ordained a priest in Bocaiuva (MG) on 13 October 2001.

Fr. Manoel belongs, as an origin, to the territorial part of Brazil, where he has carried out various pastoral assignments, among which: he was pastor of the parish of Christ the King in Realeza (2002-2005); pastor in Uberlandia (2005-06), and then for a little more than six months he was pastor also in the parish of the Immaculate Conception in Belo Horizonte (MG) (2007). As a deacon he had also served briefly in the other parish of Belo Horizonte, Santa Maria Masericordia (2001).

His life changed dramatically in October 2007, when, in the memory of St. Francis, on October 4, 2007, at the request of Superior General Fr. Alvise Bellinato, having given his availability; and on that day he arrived in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo-DRC, joining Fr. Giuseppe Leonardi. Here he gave from the beginning a valuable help in formation house, first assuming the formation of the aspirants and postulants, then, since 2009, he is the Rector of the philosophical and theological Formation, which he still directs nowadays; Delegation's economo (since 2010); and then from 17 February 2014, he also assumed the position of superior of the Congo delegation. For almost 12 years Fr. Manoel has served the people of God, youth and congregation in Kinshasa. Under his care and supervision, the Cavanis seminary in Congo continued to develop and flourish.

Fr. Manoel, in addition to philosophical and theological studies, he also achieved his license in Missiology, obtained at the Institut de Sciences de la Mission-ISEM - St. Eugène de Mazenod in Kinshasa.

He was General Councilor from 2007 to 2013.

Tomorrow morning we will proceed with the elections of the four General Councilors.
Also from this Cavanis website, we thank Fr. Pietro Antonio Fietta for 18 years of service, in three disjointed mandates, the burden and service of governing the Congregation in such a brilliant and dearest way. Let the Lord God compensate him and always bless him.
