11th Press Release (NEWS) of the 35th Ordinary General Chapter (CGO or Capitolo Generale Ordinario) of the Congregation of The Schools of Charity-Institute Cavanis
Yesterday afternoon the General Chapter concluded the phase of the election of the Preposito Generale and the four General Councillors, which was announced on this Cavanis website with photos and videos. The following is additional information on yesterday and particularly about the General Councillors:
Fr. Irani Luiz Tonet is Brazilian, for 6 years he was in Italy, as Vicar General of the Congregation and Economo Generale. He was elected first councillor and then automatically Vicar General.
Fr. Ciro Sicignano is Italian, he is pastor of the parish of St. Anthony in Corsico (Milan).
Fr. Paulo Oldair Welter is Brazilian, he is a Formator/ Master of philosophy and theology students in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Fr. Armando Bacalso is from the Republic of the Philippines, he is also a Formator, in particular responsible for the pastoral of vocations and trainer in the Cavanis Seminary in Tibungco (Davao, Philippines).
It is worth remembering that yesterday the whole liturgy and particularly the Eucharist were celebrated in English, with songs in Cebuano language, typical of the southern Philippines. Particularly the Eucharist was officiated by Fr. Robert King Jann Fallera, Filipino, the youngest of the Capitulars, missionary in the island of East Timor, who held a beautiful homily, also addressing a message to the new superior general in brilliant and courageous way. He also recited the prayers of meals in the Tetun language, the lingua franca of the Republic of East Timor, in the Sonda Islands.
